Brick stitch builds beadwork that looks exactly like a tiny brick wall — sturdy, dense and beautifully structured. Unlike peyote stitch, each new bead anchors to the thread bridges of the previous row, which makes increasing and decreasing effortless: that is why brick stitch is the go-to technique for shaped charms and statement earrings.

If you have ever wondered about brick stitch vs peyote: the finished fabric looks almost identical (rotated 90°), but brick stitch gives you much more freedom with organic shapes, while peyote is faster for straight bands. In my tutorials I use Miyuki Delica 11/0 beads and start every piece from a simple ladder-stitch base row.

Brick stitch is also the classic base for beaded fringe earrings — build the shaped top, then add flowing strands of beads below.
